 when was crea founded?

In 2008 Leticia M. Jáuregui Casanueva founded Crea Comunidades de Emprendedores Sociales, A.C., with the idea and goal of building development alternatives for migrant sending communities in the state of Zacatecas. 


what does crea do?

Through a participatory and applied methodology, we offer an array of business development services to meet the needs of socially and economically marginalized women in urban and semi-urban areas, so they can overcome the barriers they face and become successful business owners and leaders in their homes and communities. 

We want to generate better income and employment opportunities for women entrepreneurs. 


what does crea mean?

Crea comes from the spanish words creer ("to believe") and crear ("to create"). It means believing in what one creates, in the abilities of women, their potential and the country. It means creating opportunities and businesses. We believe in women who create and believe in Mexico.  


Where does crea work?

Crea's headquarters are located in Mexico City, but the organization has alternate offices in Zacatecas. 

As part of the Mujeres Moviendo México program, Crea also has five Business Development Centers in Toluca, Aguascalientes, Irapuato, Querétaro and in Distrito Federal, and three representations in Estado de México in Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, Naucalpan and Tlalnepantla. 


Who does crea work with?

Crea works with women entrepreneurs in Northern and Central Mexico (in the states of Aguascalientes, Distrito Federal, Estado de México, Guanajuato, Querétaro and Zacatecas). 

Crea understands that the success of its programs depends not only on the development of our clients as decision-makers and leaders of their businesses, households and communities, but also in the change of mentality regarding the role of women as entrepreneurs, businesswomen and decision-makers.
